Another Methodist Trip

What a great day. Things are going well. We took a ride to Methodist today on the train with Dr. T. It's the first trip we've taken since the "battery issue", so we were a little nervous, but all went very well. Josie, Marissa and Brandon got to go with us, and it was Josie's first ride on the train. We got candy at the gift shop and discovered a second gift shop, thanks to Ceci, that Dr. T must have been hiding all along! So we visited that one and bought some more candy. They have such beautiful flower gardens over at Methodist! On the way back, we have to walk up this long incline to the train. I was struggling with pushing the 200 pound blue box up the hill! But, I made it, no thanks to Dr. T who was walking behind me holding his coffee. I offered to trade him, but he wouldn't do it.

Brandon woke us up this morning at 10:00. It's always good to see him. He met a 13-year old boy in a wheelchair here at Riley today. He saw him in the cafeteria and just wheeled up to him and started talking to him about his situation. He ended up exchanging numbers with him and his dad. He's such a great inspiration to other kids. Brandon plays "murderball" which is wheelchair rugby. It's pretty incredible what he's doing with his life. And we've had the pleasure of meeting him and becoming good friends. Such a great kid!

We're still on for Monday. I told Bailey tonight that I'm going to be lonely on Monday while she's in surgery! Don't know yet what time it starts or how long it will take. That info is yet to come.

It's good to get this rain, isn't it? And it feels good to just talk about the weather! I guess that means things are pretty uneventful at the moment and we're just patiently awaiting Monday. It feels almost wrong to be anxious about such a serious event, but just knowing what follows that is filling us with anticipation.

Bailey's getting excited to meet her horse that she adopted back in February when she was in ICU - Shelby Mist. It will probably be a while before she can ride it - I would guess 6-8 weeks after surgery for her sternum to heal - but she doesn't have to wait that long to go see him!

Josie and Marissa went home today. We had fun with them. They're feeling like this is their second home now, too. Marissa is so excited about "things getting back to normal". She says that every day. It will just be nice to have one great big group hug when we get home!

We can't wait to get caught up on the last 6 months with everyone. And I miss everyone at R&L and First Christian Church of Shelbyville. We'll see you all soon!

Love,
Angie

How weird that normal seems kind of "weird". It is so wonderful to think that "real normal" is just around the corner!! I am always surprised to find out what a small world this really is... listen to this. We were at a gym team event over the weekend and I was talking to one of Brittany's teammates mother. I was telling a couple of my friends the great news about Bailey and come to find out this mother's son had a heart condition and has had the same cardiologist and surgeon as Bailey. She thinks they are awesome too.
Love you guys!
