Red Streaks

VAD rate is still at 40. I guess Dr. T came in to turn it down to 30, but Bailey was worried about the possibility of clots forming at such a low rate. So, instead of having Bailey worry, he left it at 40. The patients wear an allergy band along with their hospital band indicating any allergies they have. Bailey wrote "Dr. T" on hers and showed him. Haha!

In the spirit of the holiday, Bailey wanted red streaks in her hair, so she talked me into shopping for red hair dye today. I found some . . . and it's red! It's the kind that washes out in 8 to 10 shampoos, thank goodness. Dr. T told her there was "no coloring hair in my house, and this is my house." Now Bailey can't wait for him to see it tomorrow.

A bunch of Bailey's nurses who aren't working tomorrow are coming to watch fireworks with us. It sounds like it'll be a party here!

Had a nice visit at home. Mowed the grass, did mine and Bailey's laundry, and did some snack shopping. That's about all I had time for. The weather was so nice Saturday - it wasn't nearly as humid and was nice and cool. Enjoyed it very much.

Thank you to whoever planted flowers around our mailbox at home! They're so beautiful, and what a nice surprise! Thank you so much!

There's this one housekeeper here, Arn. He's a great guy and an incredible housekeeper, but Marissa is scared of him because, she says, "He smiles at me." Marissa just suddenly told me Friday that she wasn't scared of Arn anymore. I said, "That's great, sweetie! Do you want to go give him a sucker?" She simply said "No" and went about her business. But she came back to me later and said she wanted to give him a sucker, so we gave him a sucker. He got down on his knees to thank her. He is the sweetest guy. He's from Mexico and has been here 10 years. He's very difficult to understand - speaks very little English - but we were talking tonight and he was telling me that his wife is American and doesn't speak Spanish and he's Mexican and doesn't speak English so they speak African in their household. I was very impressed and amazed by that so I inquired how they both learned African and he started laughing at me and said, "Joke, Miss, Joke!" I have a big "L" on my forehead right now. But we had a very nice talk and I told him he does a great job at cleaning around here and he got teary-eyed, put his hand over his mouth, and eventually said "Thank you." I thought he was going to cry! He's such a sweet guy.

Well, everyone have a great holiday tomorrow. Enjoy the fireworks!

Love to all,
Angie
