Scott Gets Blindsided!

Bailey woke up this morning to a little surprise -- her night nurse, Dave, left a message in her bedside toilet. She lifted the lid to find "Good Morning - Dave" and a smiley face. That got our day off to a good start and it continued throughout the day. Continuing with school work - she's not mad at me anymore.

Through a friend at work, Tom was able to get Bailey an official Ice jersey signed by all the players on the team. It's really neat! And a few days ago, Bailey's Aunt Cindy and Uncle Tim and Craig delivered a basketball signed by I.U.'s Mike Davis and a picture of the team signed by D.J. White. And, Debi, Bailey received your cool surprise today! (a really nice frameable picture of Keith Urban) We both were oohing and aahing over that! Haha! Dr. T came in today giving her grief about all the celebrity stuff she has. I told him we were going to build some shelves in her room to hold all the stuff. He then started snooping around in the cabinets and happened upon our food stash. He was supposed to come back for a chocolate chip cookie, but hasn't made it back yet. It's still early - he doesn't go home until late. One night he popped in on us at 1:00 in the morning - scared our night nurse to death because he was trying to be quiet while checking her I.V. He turns around and there's Dr. T. Haha! We were talking about Bailey's birthday coming up. He said she couldn't have her birthday then because he was going to be out of town - then he smiled and said, "No, I'm not leaving town until I get you taken care of." I just can't tell you guys how he's such a nice guy - he really cares for his patients. I think he makes every patient feel like they're his favorite. We are very well taken care of here.

Bailey returned the favor to her night nurse, Dave, and stuck a Tootsie Roll in her bedside toilet and pushed the nurse's call button for him to come and empty her toilet. He was afraid to look in!

The little Afghanistan boy made it back to the Heart Center today. He's doing really well!

Remember I reported Bailey having a hard time taking her nasty medicine? Well, Scott tried to help matters out and came up with this monetary arrangement for her. He wrote down all her nasty medicine on a chart and said he'd pay her $.50 or $1 (depending on the severity of the nastiness) for every time she took her meds without whining. I thought that was a very noble gesture on his part to help her get over the hump. Since then, she's had to have an epogen shot 3 times a week and that can't go in her IV - it's an actual shot in her arm. So that was added to the chart as $2 each. I believe the total is up to $41 a week now! Bailey says payday is on Saturdays. And, of course, Bailey has not had a problem taking her medicine since the chart was hung on the wall! Haha! Poor Scott!

I miss you Tom, I miss you Josie, I miss you Rissy!!

Good night everyone,
Angie
