The Jewelry Store Is Open

Today consisted mostly of making jewelry. The nurses are pretty much flocking in giving their jewelry orders. She's already sold 1 necklace, 2 pairs of earrings, several keychains and 2 lanyards (or however you spell that - it's like a necklace that the nurses hang their badges on) and has orders for several more. She does a nice job! And she's extremely excited about making money. But Dr. T's "cut" is up to 51%. Let's just say, he "thinks" it's 51%.

Bailey had another nosebleed today that lasted nearly 3 hours. They don't seem to be worried at all - I think it's just a nuisance for Bailey. It's such an ordeal - I feel so bad for her. It clots down the back of her throat, then she gags, vomits, and it's just a mess. Then she gets scared. So, once again, the nurse calls a doctor up and he simply says to shove something up her nose and put pressure on it. So, it eventually stopped. She also received IVIG tonight. She usually gets nauseous with that the next 1 to 3 mornings after that.

Dr. T came in last night and tried to give Marissa a surgery hat since she made fun of his, but she didn't want it so he threw it in the trash outside our door. I dug it out of the trash and gave it to Bailey, so she had it on when he came around for rounds today. He thought that was pretty funny. I took their picture together - had to do it three times because Dr. T was either chewing gum or not smiling.

We asked if the orthodontist and/or a dentist could come and check Bailey's teeth out (especially the orthodontist since she's supposed to have them checked monthly and they haven't been checked since we've been here), but they don't like that idea. Bleeding gums could easily cause an infection and they're not willing to take that chance right now. They said the orthodontist could come and look and maybe change out her bands, but nothing at all that could cause bleeding.

Dr. T popped in again tonight because he was "hungry" - he knows where our food stash is. It happened to be during Bailey's nosebleed and she wasn't very happy at the moment and even a little frustrated. So she blurts out, "Would you hurry up and get me a heart already?" I said, "Don't you just want to grab her by the neck sometimes?" He was laughing, and said, "Yeah, Bailey, I think I can make that nose stop bleeding for you." He was having a better day today. He was over at Methodist yesterday and put a VAD (not a Berlin Heart but the American implantable version) in an older man. He said everything went well, but he always gets a little stressed and worn out from it. Knowing that, I can't imagine the amount of stress he must have been experiencing when Bailey had her surgery. He truly is an amazing guy.

Bailey's waiting on me to play Rummy, so I'd better go. She'll also be wanting dinner soon. Yeah, I know! It's nearly midnight. The life of a teen.

Have a great weekend everyone, and I'll see you Sunday evening.

Love to all, Angie
